Although based in Glasgow, the band are from all over the place, which is perhaps the best way to describe the music itself. With influences ranging from Radiohead to Simon & Garfunkel, their atmospheric dream-pop/alternative rock music is highly driven by Rawlings' crafted and genuine lyrics and heartfelt vocal performance. Having spent two years writing, they have also taken the time to establish themselves as an energetic, passionate and unpredictable live band around Scotland. Notable performances so far include playing alongside the likes of Louis Abbott of Admiral Fallow, Withered Hand and King Creosote as well as supporting There Will Be Fireworks at their sold out record launch. Friends in America have just released their anticipated debut album, "What it is to Be" independently on CD and Download Kind words: "Undoubtedly hitting the top end of my, and many other people’s ‘Best of 2013′ lists already – go and check out Friends In America, they’re your new best friends from Glasgow. 9 out of 10." WithAplomb "Earnest Scottish indie meets grandiose post-rock in a thoroughly arresting fashion." - Faded Glamour “Friends In America are going to blow people away.” – Favourite Son “I used to have a new favourite band every week until they came along. Buy the album ” – Pop Cop “Beautiful post-rock, atmospheric and heartfelt vocals. Oh and silly faces.” - Ally McCrae, BBC Radio 1
